Privacy Policy

1. Information the apps use

BackupSafe does not track users or collect personal information for advertising. The apps do not use server accounts, advertising identifiers, third-party analytics SDKs, or cloud upload.

Job, project, and operator names; selected paths and volume names; file counts, sizes, checksums, and verification results; reports and logs; registered Mac names and BLE identifiers; and local notification or Live Activity state may be stored on the device.

This information remains on the Mac, iPhone, or user-selected storage by default. It leaves the app only when the user chooses to share or copy a report.

2. How information is used

• Perform verified backups
• Verify results, diagnose errors, and resume safely
• Generate reports and manifests
• Display progress, completion, and error states from a registered Mac
• Prevent duplicate notifications and maintain a Live Activity

3. Bluetooth

The iPhone companion uses Bluetooth to read the BLE status of a BackupSafe Mac explicitly registered by the user. It provides nearby progress, completion, and error awareness without an internet connection.

BackupSafe does not use Bluetooth to identify or track unregistered nearby devices.

4. Camera

The current App Store release does not request camera access for pairing. An install QR shown by the Mac contains only the public App Store link and is read by the iPhone system Camera app, so BackupSafe cannot access camera images or scan results.

5. Sharing with third parties

BackupSafe does not sell app data or provide it to third parties for advertising. If a user shares a report or log through another service, that service's policy applies after the share.

6. Retention and deletion

Job logs and reports remain in user-selected storage or local app storage. Deleting job history removes related local database records, stored access permissions, and app-managed recovery checkpoints. It does not delete verified backup media or reports outside app-managed data.

Registered Mac information can be deleted from the iPhone companion.

7. Security and integrity

BackupSafe uses checksums and destination read-back verification. Companion pairing uses a six-digit comparison code independently shown on both devices, a one-time encrypted exchange, and explicit confirmation on iPhone. Subsequent BLE status is authenticated and checked for expiry and replay.

BackupSafe does not encrypt user media or transmit it to a server.
